Meagher County Senior Center Solar Panel Array
Meagher County, Montana
The Interstate Engineering planning team collaborated with the Meagher County Community Center’s board of directors to research and submit a grant application to Northwestern Energy for a solar panel array for the community center building.
The community center provides services and information for the seniors in White Sulpher Springs and the surrounding area. Opportunities abound for leisure, recreational activities, and a place of fellowship and understanding. Dynamically enhancing seniors’ physical and social well-being, the center offers programs promoting independence and interaction. The community center serves meals to the area’s aging population five days a week and supplies Meals on Wheels. They have a closet of durable medical equipment they will loan out to seniors in need, and they provide assistance with social services, including LIEAP, Free Taxes, SNAP, Medicare/Medicaid, and rent a portion of the building to the Play-N-Grow Preschool, making it an intergeneration organization.
The community center was facing high energy bills. It was critical to lower the energy costs to keep the building operational.
Northwestern Energy awarded a $61,000 grant to offset the cost of the chosen solar package. The Interstate Engineering planning department is proud to have helped the Meagher County Community Center apply for and receive the much-needed grant funds.
