In the role of city engineer, we have worked on water, sewer, streets, and sidewalk projects within the community. Projects have ranged in size from sizable with extensive time and funding investments to smaller but with equal importance to the overall safety and satisfaction of the city and its residents. Our services are not exclusively project-based. Often, the city calls on Interstate Engineering to consult on planning, platting, drainage issues, and general day-to-day operations challenges and questions related to engineering and maintenance. The close working relationship and understanding of the community’s needs have been built through years of active communication and interaction, as well as an available and reliable contact for the city council and staff. We have regular contact with the city, attend council meetings, meet with staff, and work towards open lines of communication to ensure all parties stay well informed.
A few examples of recent projects for the City of Gwinner include:
New Residential Development: The City of Gwinner contracted with Interstate Engineering to develop plans and specifications for a residential neighborhood on the community’s west edge. This 77-lot development included the design and construction of water and sewer, storm sewer, concrete curb and gutter, and hot bituminous paved streets. This development also included the replacement of the master lift station within the city.
Interstate Engineering was responsible for all aspects of the engineering, including the design of the utilities, coordination with utility companies, plat development, development of plans and specifications, approval of regulatory agencies, including the North Dakota Department of Health, observation of construction, construction staking, and project administration.
Street Improvements: Currently, Interstate Engineering is working on a street improvement project in the northwest area of Gwinner.
Water Treatment Plant: Interstate Engineering performed the design and construction engineering on upgrades to the water treatment plant. This included an expansion of the existing facility, as well as upgrades to the well and transmission lines.
