City of Wahpeton Comprehensive Plan

The planning team at Interstate Engineering completed a comprehensive plan for the City of Wahpeton in June of 2023. The project involved the distribution and interpretation of public surveys to establish project priorities, coordination with Wahpeton city staff and elected officials to ensure the document included helpful information and guidance for the city, and extensive research into the City of Wahpeton’s demographic data, infrastructure conditions, and relevant past comprehensive plan projects. This information was compiled and organized in a document that used legible graphics and intuitive organization to ensure its approachability and usefulness for community leaders.

The remarkable pace of change experienced by the City of Wahpeton over the past few years incited a desire amongst community leaders to re-visit the city’s vision for its future. A new comprehensive plan was needed to help the city’s residents understand their challenges and opportunities. The comprehensive plan we created provides vital information that community leaders need to do the greatest good for their city and neighbors. We provided action items in the plan to guide decision-making and facilitate conversations.

A comprehensive plan is a community’s opportunity to find its vision, define its strengths and weaknesses, and focus its efforts and commitments. Interstate Engineering provided planning, public involvement, and project management services to the City of Wahpeton and created a comprehensive plan that reflects its residents’ interests and priorities and provides guidance and recommendations for community leaders.
