Kraus-Anderson Construction contracted Interstate Engineering to provide on-site independent quality control for the Crow Creek Tribal School Replacement in Stephan, South Dakota.

Interstate Engineering’s responsibilities included:

  • Daily Site Observation and Inspections: Ensuring all construction activities met the required standards.
  • Scheduling of Testing and Special Inspections: Coordinating necessary testing and special inspections to maintain quality.
  • Project Documentation: Keeping detailed records of the project’s progress and compliance.
  • Coordination of Training and Commissioning Activities: Overseeing training and commissioning to ensure smooth operation upon project completion.

The nearly $37 million construction project encompassed:

  • 85,500-square-foot K-12 School: Built around an existing gymnasium.
  • 24,000-square-foot Student Dormitory
  • 4,900-square-foot Facility Maintenance and Bus Storage Building
  • Staff Housing and Outdoor Recreation Structures
  • Water, Wastewater, Sewer, and Storm Sewer Systems

In addition to quality control, Interstate Engineering provided construction staking services for various subcontractors on-site, including:

  • Foundations
  • Water and Sanitary Sewer Systems
  • Storm Sewer Systems
  • Lighting and Geothermal Systems
  • Roads and Parking Lots
  • Fences
