First State Bank Building Demolition
New Rockford, North Dakota
Interstate Engineering provided design and construction engineering for the City of New Rockford First State Bank project in New Rockford.
The project included demolishing the old bank building, disposing of the rubble, backfilling and restoring the building site, and abandoning existing facilities.
The building had a collapsed roof, collapsed second floor, and debris inside the building. Safety concerns limited building access. Two options were reviewed. The first was to attempt to reestablish the structural aspects of the building and refinishing it. The second was complete removal. The City Commission opted for building removal. An asbestos assessment was performed, and a structural analysis was reviewed due to the shared wall in an adjacent building. The building was removed, and the basement was filled in, converting the space to a parking lot.
