Glasgow Pool
Glasgow, Montana
Interstate Engineering performed an engineering assessment study in 2017 on the existing swimming pool built in 1974. We determined the pool was past its viable life, and replacement parts would be needed more frequently and become more costly. The city and pool committee elected the best option was to replace the existing pool.
In 2020, the committee raised enough funds to start preparing design plans. The design goals were to create a fast competition pool, large enough for the potential to host a state swim meet, provide a safe space for swim lessons, and put a strong emphasis on making the whole facility ADA accessible. The final layout encompassed an 8-lane, 25-meter competition pool with a 5-foot flip turn depth, a 35-foot by 33-foot zero depth entry area, a large deck space, a new bathhouse, and provisions for a future water slide and splash pad.
The project was scaled back in 2023 to exclude the new bathhouse from the base project. The decision was to take a phased approach and begin constructing the swimming pool and mechanical building. This allowed the owner to lock in the pricing of the pool and stop chasing inflation while the additional funds were raised for the new bathhouse.
The committee has raised over $3.5 million to date, and the pool is expected to be open in the spring of 2025,
with the bathhouse to follow shortly after that.
