Hospital Building Demolition
New Rockford, North Dakota
Interstate Engineering provided design and construction engineering for the Old Hospital Demolition project for the City of New Rockford.
The project consisted of demolishing the old hospital building, permitting a new inert landfill, disposal of the rubble, backfill, and restoration of the site, utility abandonment, and asbestos abatement.
The New Rockford City Commission contacted Interstate Engineering regarding the old hospital building that was dilapidated and fallen into disrepair. We reviewed the existing facility, worked with sub-consultants on asbestos assessment and removal, prepared plans and specifications for the complete removal of the building, and controlled the backfill of the site for future use. In addition, Interstate Engineering worked with the NDDEQ for the site permitting of an inert landfill to dispose of the material from the old hospital.
A grassroots effort transformed the site into a townhome complex that provides affordable housing for the workforce and elderly and disabled community members.
