Red Lodge pool
Red Lodge, Montana
Interstate Engineering designed a 150,000-gallon L-shaped pool featuring lap lanes, a diving board, zero-depth entry, provisions for a water slide, bathhouse renovations, a deck slide, turf seating, solar heating, and a splash pad.
In 2017, Interstate Engineering was hired to perform an engineering assessment study to evaluate the condition of the existing swimming pool and present the community with options on how to fix or construct a new pool. The city eventually closed the pool in 2019 as the structure could no longer hold water, and the push was on to build a new pool.
A pool committee was formed in 2020. We worked with the committee and the city to design a project that met everyone’s expectations and budget. In 2021, a contract was awarded to construct the 150,000-gallon L-shaped swimming pool. The base project consisted of lap swim lanes, a diving board, a 25-foot wide zero-depth entry, provisions for a tower water slide, and new mechanical equipment.
A new phase of the project began in 2022, as funding became more available, including an expansion and remodel of the existing bathhouse, a deck slide, turf seating area, solar heating, and a 1,500-square-foot splash pad with treatment equipment.
The two-phased project was completed in 2022, and the facility was officially opened to the public in the spring of 2023. The total project cost was $3.2 million, with half of the money privately raised by the pool committee and the other half provided by the city via bond.
