Richland County Planning Services
Richland County, Montana
Interstate Engineering’s Planning Team has provided planning services for Richland County, MT, since February of 2023.
These services include essential planning items such as subdivision and exempt certificate of survey review, citizen coordination and communication, and planning board administration. In addition, the Richland County Commission tasked Interstate Engineering with reviewing, auditing, and updating the subdivision code, last updated in 2019. The planning team also assisted with applying for and receiving a Safe Streets for All grant, which will kick off in the spring of 2024.
The Richland County Commission and Planning Board faced a changing landscape from boom to business as usual, with regulations and policies created to address the challenges of fast-paced energy growth. The previous planning team had been located on the west side of Montana, leading to communication challenges with both boards. Because Interstate Engineering has offices in Sidney, Montana, and Williston, North Dakota, our team has lived and worked through the boom-to-business cycle and is uniquely situated to understand the needs of Richland County. In addition, our expertise in Montana surveys is invaluable in providing correct information to citizens.
Leveraging a comprehensive team approach, our Sidney office engineering staff delivers county engineering services, and our Williston and Sidney offices provide on-the-ground planning expertise led by certified planners. Our team provides the county with efficient and effective service, aiming for a faster-than-required survey review time and impactful information sharing.
The planning team changed an online map of zoning and jurisdiction that lets users quickly access and examine information. We have worked with the Planning Board to return to the regular and required meeting schedule and update the bylaws. Currently, we are gathering public input for the updated subdivision code.
