Richland County Highway Shop

Richland County Highway Shop

Hankinson, North Dakota

Richland County hired Interstate Engineering to provide structural design engineering services to replace the main Richland County Shop in Hankinson, North Dakota, which was destroyed by a fire.

Richland County has three shops located throughout the county. Their main shop is located in Hankinson, North Dakota. The main shop caught fire due to an electrical issue. The fire destroyed the existing shop and the equipment that was inside. The county commission approved the construction of a new, larger shop to replace the one they lost. The new shop was constructed in the same location as the one that burned down.

The new shop is a pre-engineered metal building with a structural steel mezzanine inside, with storage above and office space below. The shop space includes a wash bay and overhead bridge crane. The new, larger shop will accommodate their equipment fleet, highway department staff offices, additional meeting/training rooms, etc. Rebuilding the Hankinson shop will allow the highway department to provide the level of service the residents in the southern part of Richland County have come to expect.

Interstate Engineering provided structural design services, including foundation design, structural steel design for the mezzanine, support, and connection design for the overhead bridge crane, including preparation of construction plans.
