More water, less problems for the Barnes Rural Water District (BRWD). Interstate Engineering is an active partner with the BRWD, having worked on multiple system improvements. Most recently, Interstate Engineering was selected to perform design and construction engineering for a reservoir expansion project for BRWD near Valley City.

The BRWD’s reservoir storage system faced challenges keeping up with the added demand of four sites at its reservoirs created by an expansion project completed in 2018. The 2018 project added additional treatment capacity and over 300 users but did not expand the pump station storage capacity. Interstate Engineering provided a solution by accessing the needs and added demand in the southern half of the system. We added 100,000 gallons of storage to four sites, reservoirs C, D, F, and G, connecting them to existing 100,000-gallon and 50,000-gallon reservoirs and replacing interior piping. The additional storage helps ensure the water district’s services maintain a reliable water source for its customers during peak demand flow.

Interstate Engineering provided preliminary engineering services, including completing a project concept report and plans. The project was captured with a series of still images using a time-lapse camera. See the project evolve from start to finish in the video below.
