Phase I of Buffalo GIS Project Complete
Providing GIS Solutions
In July 2022, the Buffalo, Wyoming, City Council approved a contract with Interstate Engineering to move forward with Phase I of a project to develop the city’s geographic information system (GIS).
In Phase I, the Interstate Engineering team gathered information from local engineers and current city staff and compiled it into a centralized database. The data, collected into a manageable web-based, user-friendly application, will help the city identify and locate existing infrastructure. City field crews now have tablets where they can easily access an interactive web map showing the location of the infrastructure they maintain daily.
Phases II and III of the project will kick off in July 2023. Phase II will consist of our team performing a gap analysis of the data provided by the city to determine what information is missing and find the data needed. Phase III will be a yearly maintenance program to ensure the information collected remains accurate and up to date and provide the City of Buffalo any other mapping assistance that may arise.
